Satisfying Work = Meaningful Contribution

"People with goals succeed because they know where they're going." Earl Nightingale

"Struggle vs Ease"
Jo Lyn Cornelsen
"It is expressly satisfying to structure your work life to be a giving of your unique talents, gifts and skills to the world.

I was raised to believe that life was supposed to be difficult - that if I wasn't working "hard", that I wasn't doing things "right".
We weren't allowed to have fun until the work was done.... but no matter how long or hard I worked, the work was never done! Consequently, I created plenty of "hands-on" work to keep doing things "right" and justify my existence.

Now, I am happily choosing to believe that life (and work) can be both easy and fun.  The key to creating a joyful work experience is in identifying and accepting your personal energy style, individual talents, gifts and skill level, and then aligning yourself with the type and place of work where you can best be of service.

If your work needs to also create financial support, then know that the more people you serve in meaningful ways, the greater the financial support will become.

I love to advocate for home based business - I'm an entrepreneur at heart.  Home based business has the power to disconnect you from the hard work trap of trading hours for dollars, and your income is unlimited.

I've been successfully self-employed for over 10 years, and I love the flexibility of home business.  Home business is a true blessing for my family and countless others, especially in turbulent economic times.

There are thousands of businesses to choose from.
I recommend that you research different types of businesses and industries that interest you, asking yourself some questions:

Can I create an original product or service and market it successfully?
Do I have what it takes to create, buy, or manage a franchise business?
Do I want to work in a storefront?
Do I want to work online or by phone?
Would I prefer to leverage myself by marketing other people's products and services?
Is the business I'm researching compatible with my lifestyle preferences and family's needs?

Most people begin a career by working at a job, being paid hourly wages for hourly work.  Some people, becoming very skilled in a particular line of work, go into business for themselves.

I created Quality Nurse Consultants in 1995, thinking I had a real business, only to learn later, when I read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki, that I was simply "Self-Employed".

Later, I created Wisteria Gardens Adult Family Home, and worked even harder.  I don't regret those years, because as I said, those businesses have blessed me, my family, my employees and my clients.

I am now, however, choosing to work primarily from my home office.    It's still work - but because it's an excellent fit, and in an industry that I enjoy, I haven't had so much fun in business in years!

When you go into business, do it for yourself (and your family),
but not by yourself.  The lone ranger do-it-yourself approach is very labor intensive, and you can wear yourself out and become stretched too thin by wearing far too many hats.

Choosing a team approach creates synergy and raises the energy to a powerful level, blessing not only you and your family, but the others you work with as well.  The team approach opens the possibility of helping and serving more people and consequently, making more money.

Work satisfaction expands exponentially when you
1. Align your gifts and talents with a need in the marketplace,
2. Work within your personal energy styles,
3. Your work has meaning to you, and
3. You balance your work with the other important areas of your life - creating a life of Authentic Wholeness.

Align with your higher purpose and you will naturally choose to create work that you enjoy.  Blessings!" - Jo Lyn

PRAYER IS A FORM OF WORK
"The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them.  Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them.  Prayer is a form of work, and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."
